As Australia’s first dental school, the University of Sydney School of Dentistry has been providing education and training in dentistry and oral health for more than 100 years.

A focus on providing graduates in the dental field with life-long learning at the University of Sydney has led the school to provide an extensive range of continuing professional development (CPD) courses for dentists, specialists and oral health therapists.

Combining the best scientific evidence from academic and research outputs with the clinical expertise of renowned local and international experts, continuing education (CE) courses at Sydney Dental School follow the same rigorous standards that determine the educational offerings of their flagship and specialist degree programs.

A year round program of clinical and evidence-based courses and conferences are offered in a variety of dental disciplines across many major cities throughout Australia. These courses assist practitioners in their obligation to provide high quality patient care in endodontics, general dentistry, hygiene and therapy, implants, oral surgery, orthodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics and more.

Professor Heiko Spallek, Head of School and Dean at Sydney Dental School says, “While other countries have adopted a national certification system for continuing professional development providers, which offerthe dental community a mechanism to select quality continuing dental education with confidence, in Australia this isn’t the case.

“Our obligation in training the new generation of dental professionals, who will still be treating patients in 2065 and beyond, is to provide one more stage of lifelong learning that will ensure growth in skill and knowledge over their lifetime in practice.”
