Australia’s dental product manufacturers and suppliers will soon have access to the latest geospatial tools to analyse the market for dental product thanks to a major investment in member services by the Australian Dental Industry Association.

Using data drawn from a number of sources, ADIA membership will have access to a new online tool that provides a graphical representation of where dentists and allied oral healthcare professionals are located—one of a number of statistical resources ADIA is providing that allows member businesses to make decisions that will underpin their ability to grow, create jobs and operate sustainably.

“Across the medicines and medical devices sector, ADIA is recognised as a market leader in publishing high-quality market data. We’re pleased to be rolling out this new tool that has been commissioned in response to requests from member businesses for higher degrees of granularity,” ADIA CEO Troy Williams said.

The dental industry will, via a password protected website, be able to look at a map of Australia and zoom down to study the distribution of the dental workforce at postcode level. Further refinement over the course of the coming year will allow ADIA member businesses to overlay this data with other statistics such as the number of dental practices in any given postcode or the number of digital imaging scanners in that region.

“Industry participants who have been involved in the beta testing phase are excited about the ability of this tool to assist with their business planning,” Williams said. “It’s ideally suited to supporting sales workforce distribution and identifying areas where there are emerging commercial opportunities.”

Once the beta testing phase has been completed, this new member resource will be launched at the ADX18 Sydney dental exhibition to be held over 23-25 March 2018.
