The Australian Dental Association earlier this week announced that the annual World Dental Congress will be held in September 2021 at the state-of-the-art International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour.
The announcement was made following an intense campaign by a dedicated team from the ADA—with the backing of Business Events Sydney—who hosted key figures visiting from the Fédération Dentaire Internationale (FDI or World Dental Federation) during Vivid Sydney in June 2016.
FDI will be staging the World Dental Congress.
Held annually in chosen cities across the world—with this year’s event held in Madrid, Spain—the World Dental Congress is a prestigious gathering of dentists from across the globe for four days of continuing professional education, policy and clinical discussion with exposure to the latest in dental technology and practices via an integrated exhibition.
The ADA is well placed to host an event of this calibre, given its place at the forefront of dental learning in Australia and its proven ability to stage events such as the biennial Australian Dental Congress, which encourage continuing professional development and networking that are integral to every World Dental Congress.
“The staging of the FDI World Dental Congress in Sydney will be an exciting opportunity for the country’s dental professionals to be exposed further to the exciting, always growing, world of international dentistry,” ADA president Dr Hugo Sachs said.
“It is proof that Australia occupies an enviable place at the forefront of world dentistry and that this has, once again, been recognised by leading figures in the world of dentistry.
“To have the world’s premier dental congress on our front door is an amazing achievement and I offer my congratulations to everyone involved.”
