Dr Matt Teixeira, owner of MHT Dentistry in Malvern East, has been announced as the recipient of the CPD Practice Bursary. Now in its sixth consecutive year, the $10,000 bursary acknowledges dental practices committed to quality learning and aims to fund further professional development for practitioners and professional staff members.
“It was a very exciting moment to hear that MHT Dentistry was the successful recipient of the ADAVB BOQ Specialist CPD Practice Bursary,” Dr Teixeira said.
“We applied to the bursary as a team and we can’t wait to commence further professional learning. The bursary will allow MHT Dentistry staff to attend many relevant CPD training courses over the next 12 months, which will in turn provide current patients and the local community with access to a dental practice that strives for excellence and innovation.”
“The panel was impressed with the high-quality work and effort that went into MHT Dentistry’s comprehensive application,” ADAVB president Dr Angelo Pacella said.
“There was a clear goal to strive for excellence and innovation, to provide all staff with quality professional development and a commitment to further explore various interest areas, practice accreditation and digital/communications work—all with the end goal to better serve their patients and the community.”
Dr Teixeira and MHT Dentistry will be profiled in ADAVB’s Victorian Dentist and BOQ Specialist’s ‘Best Practice’. In addition to a Certificate of Recognition, the $10,000 bursary includes $8000 to be applied to any CPD courses and training and $2000 for ADAVB CPD courses and training.
A St Albans-based dentist committed to ongoing professional development has been awarded the Recent Graduate Bursary. Dr Suet Yen Leong will receive $5000 towards ADAVB CPD training courses after being named the recipient of the coveted bursary.
The ADAVB BOQ Specialist Recent Graduate Bursary recognises and rewards recent dental graduates (from 2012- 2020) who are committed to high-quality learning by providing financial support for further professional development.
Graduating from Adelaide University in 2014, Dr Leong relocated to Melbourne in 2015 where she has since shared her time between private practices and public health clinics, serving communities in both the northwest and southeast. She is currently on parental leave and is returning to work in January 2021.
“I was completely shocked when I received the news,” Dr Leong said.
This bursary means a lot to me, especially during these challenging times. It has brought new-found determination and will aid me tremendously in developing myself professionally and providing better care for all my patients.”
“We are proud to partner once again with the ADAVB to recognise an outstanding bursary recipient in Dr Leong,” BOQ Specialist CEO Hugh Lander said.
“The recent graduate bursary not only marks the strength of our partnership, but our shared commitment to supporting the next generation of dentists in Victoria.
“We would like to congratulate Dr Leong for her unwavering commitment to quality learning and her genuine passion for the dental profession and the communities in which she serves,” Lander added.
“Despite the challenges she has faced as a recent graduate, Dr Leong’s continued focus on both her personal and professional development in order to deliver the highest level of care to her patients is commendable, and a great example to other young dentists.”
Dr Leong will be featured in ADAVB’s online and print publications as well as BOQ Specialist’s own ‘Best Practice’ publication.
